Emerald Training: Reverse Engineer Your Goals

Act like a CEO
Reverse Engineer Your Goals

Do you know how to reverse engineer your income goals? It is important in this business that we not only are passionate about our fitness goals and paying it forward by helping others succeed and see the VALUE in the products... but to also be mini CEOs of our own company.

Beachbody IS NOT our boss.
Carl Daikeler IS NOT our boss.
Your upline coach IS NOT your boss.

You signed a contract to own your very own business. Imagine that Beachbody was a mall... a big amazing modern mall that only sold Shakeology at the food court (lol imagine that!!) and each shop inside that mall was independently owned by us, the coaches. Beachbody owns the building but WE own the store and can choose how to run it (within the mall guidelines) and how much work we want to put into our store.

All of a sudden it makes sense right?

So if you actually owned a store in the mall of Beachbody... how would you want it to look? What would you want the customers to see when they walk in the door? How would your customer service be? Would you do outreach to get your name out there? Would you bust your booty to make sure you had the NICEST and most amazing store in the mall?
Of course you would! You wouldn't want the dirty store that barely had quality merchandise on the shelves. You want to be Michael Kors.... not Forever 21. (as much as I love Forever 21, I'd rather go to Michael Kors lol!)

So when it comes to your Beachbody business, why would you leave out the important piece of the puzzle of being a business savvy CEO? We don't get into this business to crunch numbers and thing of the business end of things, but in reality, the ones who are conscious of their business and how it operates are the ones who will succeed and grow much faster.

This is where the leaders start to rise from the ashes.

So here is my lesson for the day in being a CEO of your own business.... be aware of everything that is going on, and set goals for yourself. Just like a mall business would set yearly earning goals, you need to set money goals as well. It is OKAY to think about making money when it comes to Beachbody, it might be a little taboo to discuss because we all want to believe that we are in this just to help people, but the truth is, you can make a lot of cash doing this, and doing it well.

First tip....
check your COO and your Drilldown OFTEN! Do not skimp on this detail! Be aware of what is happening in your business? Would you hire some employees to work at your mall store and never call to check in or check the numbers for the day? Of course not, that's being a bad leader. Also, you would make sure that your employees are staying on task, are learning constantly, and growing. (talking about being a boss vs a leader is a completely different conversation, so for the sake of this post, just go with it!)

How do I log into my COO and see my Drilldown?

Log into teachbeachbody.com.... click Coach Online Office.... Hover over My Business... down to My Team... down to Drilldown

This is your eyes and ears of your team. This is where you will see everyone's volume, success club points, rank, and active status.
I check this every single day for multiple reasons....

  • Who is close to getting Success Club? Who has Success Club locked in this month?
  • Are my coaches Active or projecting to be Inactive soon?
  • Who is rocking it in volume? Who has been struggling the past few weeks?
  • Is there anyone who might lose rank this week?
  • Is there anyone who is close to ranking up this week?
  • Are my new coaches placed on the correct leg? (you have 72 hours after sign up to place them where you want)
These are all questions a leader asks themselves when looking at the Drilldown. I can ask and answer those questions then put action steps into place on how I will help my team. My time can be divided where it needs to be and I'm not hunting anyone down for information.

So let's move onto EARNING POTENTIAL!

Another important part of being a leader is setting goals for yourself. We are pretty good at setting fitness goals, because that is probably why you initially joined... you either wanted to get good results from a program or already go amazing results and want to share it.

You then have to shift your focus to setting income goals for yourself. Again, it is OKAY to do this and you should be doing it. Your business relies on you being business minded and savvy.
Where do you start?

First.... watch the video no team cycle bonuses because it will answer a lot of questions and allow the next graphic to make tons of sense!!!!

Seriously this video is SO CUTE but spells it out way better than I could ever explain.
Because math is hard y'all!!!!

Next step in setting your goal.... how much do you want to make in team cycle bonus each week??
Here is a graphic to help you with a few "getting started" benchmarks:

This graphic shows income based on team cycle bonus only... it does not include what you may make in personal commissions or fast track bonuses.

Set a goal for yourself, "I want to make $500 a week" and understand what that can do for you and your family. Write down where you need to be, those minimum benchmarks posted above, and strive for it. What do you have to do to create a team that will reach those numbers? As the leader and the CEO of your mini store in the Beachbody mall what effort and sacrifices will you make in order to get there? I like to think of the commissions as the icing on the cake on top of those cycle bonuses.

One step further....
The numbers in this example show how many coaches you need bringing in 90pv every week (this is why it is so important to have coaches on HD) to meet those numbers.
Keep in mind, every coach works differently and may bring in MORE or LESS than 90 pv every week. So this is just an example for how many coaches you need on your team working *part time* to meet your income goals.

Congrats.... you are now THINKING LIKE A LEADER! and are well on your way to having the top performing store in the Mall of Beachbody!!!

Now go to the food court and get yourself a shake!!! xoxoxo

21 Day Fix Tips & Tricks

Getting Started with the Fix.....

  • Read the 21 Day Fix meal plan manual that comes with your Challenge Pack from cover to cover.
  • Figure out your Calorie Level... page 4 of your book Video on How I Prep
  • Make a lost of items you already have in the fridge or pantry, go through your spice rack and make notes. You don't want to go out wasting money on stuff you already have. Also make a list of things you can easily prepare ahead of time so you aren't cooking every single day... examples: chicken, green beans, broccoli, dressings, turkey, chopped veggies and fruits. The more prepared you are, the better your success!
  • Buy Fixate, the 101 recipe cookbook by Autumn Calabrese. It will set your mind at ease and give you tons of ideas for meals. Also... Pinterest!!!! Create a board just for Fix approved meals!
  • Make a list of what you will need at the store. Go with a plan so you stay on course!
  • Print out your trackers and charts... I have a few below that will be helpful!!!
  • Don't forget SNACKS! You will have cravings and you will want to cave in... be locked and loaded with healthy snacks and store the "kids stuff" far far away! Better yet, get the kids involved!
  • On a budget? Go here for ideas on saving some $$$$ while shopping for the Fix.
Staying on Track....
  • People love getting creative with how they keep track of their containers. It's three weeks people, you gotta have some fun! I list a few below... be sure to check out the bracelets! Other ideas.... colorful magnets on the fridge to represent the containers, take pictures and Instagram your meals (people who take pictures and share their food are way more inclined to stay on track), or use clothes pins and color them with markers to represent your containers.... clip them on a piece of ribbon attached to a cork board filled with inspiring quotes!!!
  • Want a creative storage idea? I love these Bento Boxes
boxes good for 21 day fix

Friendly Reminders....
  • Take your before and after pictures! You want to make sure you are tracking your progress not only by using a scale and measuring tape, but document it through photos as well. You'll be surprised by what you see. How to Take Pictures
  • Why do you need those pictures? Because you can win $$$$ and everyone who sends in their before/afters gets a 21 Day Fix tshirt... for free! Go here for more info!!!
  • Keeping track of your workouts is JUST as important as keeping track of your food. Don't give into excuses and make it fun. Get the kids involved, get the husband/wife involved, and make it a priority in your day... not a last item on your list. It is 21 days, 3 weeks. Amazing things can happen if you just stay on course!

I feel like there is an endless abundance of materials out there to help you on your 21 Day Fix/Extreme journey... and it can be a bit overwhelming. So here are some of my favorite planning tools to get you rocking and rolling!

This is a great chart for your fridge!
Tip: place it inside a plastic sleeve and use a dry erase marker!

"Erika I get that I have to make better choices, but where do I even start?"
Here ya go!!!!
Keep a little copy in your purse to reference while at the store!

In a pinch? Make a copy of this to tuck in your purse for shopping!

How easy and COOL is this????
Esp love the WATER INTAKE!

What is clean eating?
Here's a starter grocery list for you!

This is my favorite for staying on track... 21 Day Fix bracelets
Put on a bracelet for every container you are allowed for the day...
and take off the bracelet as you use your containers.
It's fun and you can snap photos of your wrist to send to your accountability partners!

"Erika, do I really have to get those shakes with my 21 Day Fix?"
Yes. Yes you do.
Plain and simple, it is the easiest way for you to get in over 70 vitamins and minerals in one meal.
And it will help you make better decisions for the rest of the day.
plus... 30 day money back guarantee!

Master Trainer Auditions

Cat can finally come out if the bag
{That saying always confused me, why is a cat in a bag?}

Anyway...... longish post so stick with me.....

There are few things in my life that I "gave up to God" and trusted that it would just happen.
The first time was 3 years ago when I was pregnant with Charlotte and we found some curious stuff on her ultrasound. She had a few markers for down syndrome, and we went through many weeks of worrying and trying to find answers.
And one day it hit me, the day I had to decide if we'd go through with more testing, that regardless of the results.... God would give me the child that was meant for me. He knew what I could handle, so I stopped all further tests and just gave it up to God.
And we were blessed with a healthy, crazy amazing little girl.

I didn't really trust God's plan again until just 2 weeks ago. {No I'm not pregnant lol}

Let's backtrack... A year ago I got certified to teach Piyo, a format that was so new to me, and an experience that was very much outside my comfort zone. I was working as a retail manager at the time and saw it as just something fun, new, and gave me more credibility when talking about fitness programs.

Little did I know, that class I taught, would ignite a fire inside that I had no idea existed. I love being in front of people, helping them reach their goals and full potential. I loved feeling like I was making someone smile, or feel good again for the first time in a while.

I loved it so much I quit my full time job to pursue coaching and teaching full time. Freedom to be home with my kids, be present in their lives while expanding my little fitness business.

I got certified to teach P90X in March and that's when everything changed. Finally the program that gave me my life back after having Charlotte was in a fun, energetic live class workout! I could share my love for P90X through coaching AND coaching in the gym. It's like stars aligned. I dedicated myself to this being MY thing and began teaching it several times a week.

Fast forward to Summit in Nashville this summer. I heard about this Master Trainer thing... I thought... I'd love to know more and see if it's something I could do. I walked into the auditions and watched as people got up and showed off their skills. I was certainly out of my league. These were the BEST IF THE BEST in group fitness. I got info from a trainer, and left.

This is when I started to give it up to God again. I knew then wasn't my time, I'd have to really train and dedicate myself to being THE BEST I could be.
So after Summit I went home and dug my heels in, and did everything I could to learn more and be better.

And two weeks ago a sign finally emerged, I got an email saying they were conducting an audition in Baltimore on October 3rd.
So I filled out the application and hit submit. After that I knew I had to get there, and really be on my A game.

I put on my blinders and only focused on this audition. I finally gave it up to God. I said.... If this is meant to be, please show me the path to take to get there. I'll do the work, you light the way.

Finally Saturday arrived and I was surprisingly not nervous. I packed my bag, jumped in my car and headed to Baltimore for auditions at 5:30pm.
I listened to the music over & over & over that I'd oerform. I knew the moves but visualized myself doing them perfectly.
If I ever hear Fall Out Boy "The Phoenix" again I might scream lol

I got to the convention center and after more waiting I was able to go into the room. There was a large group there to audition, along with 2 Master Teainers, and Barbara a Senior Director at Beachbody corporate.

We each had about 5 minutes to answer questions then we had to teach the other people there who were auditioning a piece from a format we chose.
I did P90X round 13 cardio..... my favorite!

I'll be honest, my audition felt good. I wasn't nervous because I KNEW I had this. I was ready. I was being me. I was lead here and meant to be here.

After working out to everyone else's routines, we then had a break while they talked. We got really good honest feedback,  all of which I knew I could use and bring to my classes.

Then they announced the 3... just 3... people who would move onto being Beachbody Master Trainer Ambassadors.

~~~~ AND I MADE IT ~~~~
I was stunned to hear my name. I was so excited but literally just stood there while she finished talking.
I'm beyond grateful to everyone who has helped me get here.
I'm officially a Beachbody Master Trainer Ambassador and will go through LOTS of work before getting the official title of Master Trainer <3
Thank you fitness warriors who come to every class, and push me to do better.
And thank you to my family for always supporting my crazy dreams <3
I'm beyond thrilled to be apart of the Master Trainer community and can't wait to learn more :) :) and bring you all on my journey of getting there!
